FAQ

We have many years of experience in a variety of therapeutic settings- community mental health, private practice, virtual “coaching”, group therapy, etc… and we hear the same things over and over again from our clients- therapy has been unhelpful and they are really grateful for the honest feedback we give them. We have also both worked long enough to know what we are and are not good at and have found that we are most effective when we are relatively unfiltered and focused on goals/measurables and resolution. There is, of course, a place for supportive, explorative and insight-oriented therapy but many of the clients we have seen over the years need some very concrete things to be different, and quickly, and perhaps do some of that more “therapeutic work” later.

Yes! We are both decades into our careers as Licensed Mental Health Clinicians as well as some specific certifications and millions of trainings. In our clinical work, we lean heavily on the practical usage of CBT and DBT, and a myriad of other things learned/developed over the years.

We have been working for many years in trauma, addiction and personality disorders and, more specifically over the 5 years, with emotionally abusive and disconnected men. Over time we have come to believe that the relational struggles of many of our clients (outside of the impacts of addiction) stem from developmental immaturity. And we believe that the best way to “develop” in those areas is by addressing those deficits through awareness, accountability and skill development.

The group work is highly structured- very different from traditional talk therapy, or process oriented therapy groups. If you are open to direction, interested in homework/skills/measurables, and have a sense of humor, we should be golden! Also- feel free to contact us via email to schedule a 15 minute consult to ask questions or see if the content is, in fact, a good fit for you.

Though we are not operating clinically at the Feedback Forum we are ethical in our practice and are clinically trained and so will refer out if we see a need for clinical services, such as psychiatric evaluations, addiction issues, or formal assessments.
